Sky Contract
Once you have completed your contract period with Sky you can call to cancel your subscription and then have several options on how to use your satellite dish and receiver to receive free terrestrial and satellite channels

What Are The Main (Free) Alternatives to Sky in the UK
Poviding you have a TV licence; there should be no additional subscription costs to receive Digital terrestrial channels received via a rooftop or loft aerial
BBC and ITV channels can be "collected" by a Freeview digital receiver if your TV only receives the old analog channels that will cease to be broadcast from September 2012

If you have a modern HDTV, 3DTV or Smart TV; it will already have the decoding units built in to show Freeview channels

Freesat signals need a satellite dish and your old Sky dish should be suitable for this although it will need to be connected to a Freesat receiver to ensure you get the full range of free channels and free HD channels

Free Channels via Your Sky Receiver
Once your subscription service is cancelled you should still be able to receive most of the Free to Air or Free to View satellite channels you would get via Freesat although the actual Free channels may change as some may be subscription only if received via your Sky satellite receiver

Replacing The Sky Receiver
As mentioned, You can attach the Sky dish to a Freesat Receiver instead of your Sky box to receive the full range of Freesat channels including high definition; it’s also possible to get a range of receivers with built in storage to record programmes to hard drive

Replacing your Satellite Receiver in the Newcastle/Gateshead Area
If you’re wanting to end your Sky subscription, live in the Newcastle, Gateshead or Northumberland areas and need a quote to install a Freesat Satellite receiver then visit one of these pages to make an appointment for a Free Quote:

If you’re looking for an alternative to a normal 43cm or 48cm satellite dish then the sqish may be an option to receive Sky and Freesat

According to the Sqish manufacturers the latest model performs better than the original and can be garden, fence, window or even table mounted

Satellite dish disguise: The manufactures can supply a custom made vinyl print to fit ontop of the Sqish dish so that it can be colour matched to its surroundings

If you want a quote to install a satellite dish, Sqish dish or other custom satellite signal receiver in the North East try one of these links to arrange a quote: Newcastle or Gateshead

Popular satellite dish sizes include:the 60cm dish used for European satellite services and the 80cm dish chosen for world sat receivers; while Sky and Freesat vary between the older 43cm dish and the newer 48cm dish
